Goodcopy Achieves FSC Certification

Goodcopy Printing & Digital Graphics is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council(FSC) to provide products and services that support responsible
forest management.

Today, the FSC remains the only internationally recognized
independent organization devoted to well-managed timber
resources and responsibly-produced wood products.

Choosing FSC-certified suppliers and products helps prohibit
conversion of precious forest land and use of hazardous
pesticides, respects the rights of indigenous forest populations,
and mandates annual compliance review of certified entities.

In 2008 Goodcopy began the certification process
and successfully completed the audit program.

What does this mean for our customers? Using FSC products for
your printing projects supports the growing demand for responsible
forestry. You can rest assured that your purchases do not contribute
to the destruction of valuable natural resources.

We are pleased to offer you a variety of paper options to suit your needs and environmental concerns for your envelopes, business cards, postcards, brochures, presentation folders, booklets and more.

your idea into something you can be proud of!

Goodcopy Green Initiatives Update: Global Thinking, Local Action

FSC Certification

For your next printing project, consider environmentally-friendly options to bring your project to life and demonstrate your commitment to a healthy planet. In addition to FSC certified paper, Goodcopy offers ink choices including Low Volatile Organic Compound(VOC), soy and bio-diesel based varieties. Choosing these types if ink helps lessen environmental impact and increase recyclability of the end product.

Around the shop…..
In the pre-press department our Presstek Dimension platemaker raises the bar and lowers environmental impact – its chemistry-free daylight-safe operation eliminates the need for storage and disposal of chemical developers.
Our continued investment in digital printing presses allows us to print in exact quantities, reducing paper waste and set-up time. We’ve also upgraded an older offset press with a new Heidelberg 2-color for more efficient printing options.
Illuminating our office areas with a motion-activated lighting fixtures conserves electricity by shutting off lights in unoccupied areas.

Around the town…
In 2008, as part of our 40th anniversary celebration, Goodcopy sponsored a tree planting. Our Japanese Snowbell tree in Wooster Square Park represents our appreciation for the New Haven community we proudly serve.
And wrapped in green, displaying the Goodcopy “G” logo, you’ll see our newer van with it’s larger cargo area, making free deliveries for local orders.

Globally….Renewable Choice Energy
At Goodcopy Printing, we value the environment and believe that taking steps to reduce our environmental footprint is good for business and the earth. Our purchase of renewable energy credits (RECs) and carbon offsets has a collective impact equivalent to planting 3,506 mature trees or not driving 289,787 miles per year in an average car.

By purchasing RECs and carbon offsets, Goodcopy’s commitment helps save natural resources, while reducing dependence on fossil fuels and diminishing emissions.

We’ve purchased renewable energy credits (RECs) to offset 100% of the electricity we use. Renewable energy credits are produced by wind farms, biomass facilities and other renewable energy projects that allow companies and consumers to offset their electricity use with clean and renewable energy. By purchasing renewable energy credits, we are guaranteed that all of the electricity we consume is replaced on the national power grid with clean power. We are also offsetting the emissions that are produced by heating our plant with natural gas. The electricity we use from the grid gets replaced back onto the grid with renewable energy, which makes the energy mix cleaner for everyone.

Tips for a “greener” workplace
Recycle office paper waste by placing a container or box near every copier, printer, fax and workstation.

Instead of bottled water, use filtered drinking water and reusable cups.

At the end of the day, turn off all lights, computers, printers and equipment.
Banish screen savers – they actually eat up energy. Use the “none” or “blank screen” settings on office computers.

Distribute memos via email and store documents electronically.
Buy recycled toner and ink - less plastic and metal to enter the landfill stream.
Offer secure bike parking to encourage two-wheeled transportation.

Look for programs that accept used computers, printers, faxes, cell phones for recycling before discarding them.
